Description
Augusta Ada King, Countess of Lovelace (1815-1852), born Augusta Ada Byron, the only legitimate child of the poet Lord Byron. She is known now mainly as Ada Lovelace. She wrote a description of Charles Babbage's Analytical Engine (an early computer), and is considered the "first programmer" since she wrote programs for the yet-to-be-built machine.
