Description
Shepherd of the Landes. A shepherd is a person who tends, herds, feeds, or guards herds of sheep. The word stems from an amalgam of sheep herder. Landes, or Lanas in French, means moorland or heath. Engraving taken from page 92 of "The Children's Fairy Geography, or A Merry Trip Round Europe" by Forbes Edward Winslow, 1879. This classic children's book is still in print over 100 years later!
