Description
In the center of the Crab Nebula is the remains of a star's core, which has formed a pulsar, or neutron star rotating 30 times a second and emitting regular pulses of radiation. The Crab lies 6000 light years from Earth in the constellation Taurus. This image - assembled from 24 individual exposures taken with the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope - gives the most detailed view so far of the entire Crab Nebula. The image is the largest image ever taken with Hubble's WFPC2 workhorse camera.
