Color enhanced transmission electron micrograph of negatively stained cells of a dividing Neisseria gonorrhoeae, showing a typical gram-negative cell morphology when revealed with negative staining method. Neisseria are gram-negative and usually occur in pairs with flattened sides but may occur singly or in irregular groups. N. gonorrhoeae is the causative agent of gonorrhea, a specific, contagious, catarrhal inflammation of the genital mucous membrane of either sex. TEM Magnification = x28,000 at 70mm
