Description
Color enhanced scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of Helicobacter pylori. This bacteria was first detected in 1982 by Australian scientists Barry Marshall and Robin Warren as the causative agent of chronic gastritis and gastric ulcers. H. pylori are helix-shaped (rod) bacteria with 4 to 6 flagella. H. pylori exclusively inhabit the mucosa of the human stomach. Magnification 10,000x when printed at 10 centimeters wide.
