Description
Most neurons in the peripheral nervous system are insulated with myelin (blue). Myelin is actually made from a type of glial cell called a Schwann cell. The Schwann cells produce myelin that is wrapped in a way that leaves gaps approximately every 100µM. These gaps are called nodes of Ranvier.
