Description
The female Bluebottle Fly (Calliphora vomitoria) feeds on and lays her eggs in open wounds and rotting flesh. When the eggs hatch, the larvae feed on juices from the decaying flesh. This is called mayiasis when it occurs in the wound of a live animal.
