Patrol from the 17th Lancers discovering the bodies of Lieutenants Teignmouth Melvill and Nevill Coghill who were killed attempting to save the Queen's Colour of the 1st Battalion. The Battle of Isandlwana on January 22, 1879 was the first major encounter in the Anglo-Zulu War between the British Empire and the Zulu Kingdom.
