Description
Color enhanced scanning electron microscope image (SEM) of Clostridium botulinum. This is an obligate anaerobic, gram-positive, rod-shaped bacterium. When propagating it forms botulinum toxin. The toxin is injected under the skin of the face to paralyze the muscles to smooth out wrinkles. Magnification 13,300x when printed at 10 centimeters wide.
