Description
Color enhanced transmission electron micrograph (TEM) of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). This paramyxovirus, or pneumovirus, is causes human respiratory tract infections in temperate climates. In adults the virus only affects the upper respiratory tract, but in infants RSV can cause serious bronchiolitis (bronchiole inflammation) or bronchopneumonia.
