Description
Scanning electron microscope of ciliates cells in a mouse trachea. The tracheal lining contains mucus-secreting goblet cells and epithelial cells bearing hair-like cilia. The movement of the cilia moves mucus and foreign particles upwards out of the respiratory tract, helping to keep the lungs and airways free. Magnification 600x @ approximately 8x8.5 inches.
