Description
Mite on a Anopheles mosquito larvae, Anopheles is a genus of the family Culicidae. The larvae of Anopheles mosquitoes live in stagnant water where they feed on bacteria and other microorganisms. Many adult anopheles mosquitoes transmit malaria. A mite (Arrenurus) is seen feeding on the hemolymph of the Larva by means of a piercing proboscis. These mites appear to weaken the mosquito larvae. It is thought that an increase in the pollution of mites in the water cause a decline in the population of mosquito larvae. Color Enhanced Scanning Electron Micrograph (SEM). Magnification = 460x when printed at 10 cm wide.
