Description
A green laser is shown transmitting through a clear plastic rod. When the angle of internal reflection is beyond the critical angle of the plastic, all of the light is reflected off the plastic-air interface back into the plastic. This is the way fiber optics is designed to transmit a single bean of light a great distance without huge transmission losses.
