Description
Close-up of a dead teasel flower head (Dipsacus fullonum) after flowering. The teasel is a tall plant which inhabits bare or grassy land. After pollination of the flowers, the seeds develop in the flower head, which is spiky to protect them. The action of the wind blows the head around, ejecting the seeds. The dead flower heads of teasel can last through an entire winter in this state. (4th of 4 images).
