Artist's Description

A relief depicting a lion attacking a bull, on the eastern staircase of Apadana Palace, at Persepolis, Iran. Persepolis was once the capitol of the Persian Empire, and dates from about 500 B.C.E. The lion attacking the bull represents the coming of spring.
