Description
A diaphragm (also called a cap or Dutch Cap), a female contraceptive device. The diaphragm is a hemispherical rubber cap bound by a thicker rubber ring. The device is inserted into the vagina prior to intercourse and positioned so that it covers the neck of the cervix, thus preventing sperm from entering the womb. It is normally used in conjunction with a chemical spermicide. When correctly used the diaphragm is about 88 percent reliable.
