Description
Alzheimer's Disease is a condition of the brain that can lead to deterioration of neurons and brain cells, leading to neurological dysfunction, including dementia, memory loss, and usually an early death. In this illustration, at the cellular level, brain lesions called amyloid plaques develop in key areas of the brain, including the Hippocampus and surrounding structures, areas that are crucial for memory and cognition. These recognizable plaques are formations of iron protein fragments which can interrupt communication between the neurons.
