Drawing of the microscopic structure and function of the brain by Santiago Ramon y Cajal (1852-1934). The drawing dates to approximately 1899, and shows vestibular sensor connections in the cerebellum. Cajal was a Spanish pathologist, histologist, neuroscientist, and Nobel laureate (1906), and is considered by many to be the father of modern neuroscience.
