Artist's Description

The ancient city of Ephesus had several bath complexes, built while under Roman rule of Constantine I. The city had one of the most advanced aqueduct systems in the ancient world. Ephesus was the second largest city of the Roman Empire. This is the view of the Library of Celsus from the Public Baths. The library was built in 135 AD. It stored 12,000 scrolls. The front facade was restored, and is a prime example of Roman public architecture. The archaeological site lies 3 km southwest of Selcuk. The ruins are a favorite tourist attraction, with easy access from Kusadasi.
