Description
Entitled: "The Christmas post office 'a la carte' has made its appearance on national capitol streets" showing a truck decorated in an appeal for early mailing for the Christmas season, with man dressed as Santa Claus on back of truck. It was both the Penny Post postal service in 1840 and the industrialization of the printing industry that led to the popularity of sending Christmas cards. At the same time, mail-order catalog companies used improvements in transportation, packaging, and the national postal service to expand their services. National Photo Company, December 10, 1922.
