Description
This color enhanced lateral (from the side) view from a conventional catheter cerebral angiogram in the late arterial/capillary phase shows a small collection of abnormal increased vascularity in the temporal lobe with early venous drainaage extending superiorly (towards the top of the image) via a large, dominant draining vein consistent with a high flow arterial venous malformation (AVM). These are colored blue. AVMs are dangerous because of there potential for hemorrhage (bleeding) but they can also result in strokes, seizures, headaches and even death.
