Color-enhanced Scanning Electron Micrograph (SEM) of the Gram-positive bacteria species Enterococcus faecium, showing non-motile cocci in chains. It can be commensal in the human intestine, but it may also be a pathogen, causing diseases such as neonatal meningitis. It is used as a probiotic in veterinary medicine. Magnification 3630x at 35mm.
