Description
The yellow fever mosquito (Aedes aegypti) is a stinging mosquito species from the tropics and subtropics. A female can be seen sitting on skin here in the frontal view. It may be a carrier of various types of viruses, e.g. Zika, dengue, yellow fever. It is about 3-4 mm tall, dark with white bands on the joints and on the breast shield. Only the females suck blood after fertilization. For oviposition, the smallest amount of water accumulates. The entire life cycle from the egg to the adult animal needs 10 days under optimal conditions. Magnification 17x at 15x12cm image size.
