Description
Freeze-fractured Lactobacillus bulgaricus (TEM, metal-shadowing). A rod shaped, gram-positive bacteria. Lactobacilli are natural inhabitants of the mouth, stomach, gut, and vagina, producing lactic acid through fermentation of carbohydrates. Such bacilli help maintain an acidic environment, hostile to the growth and replication of many pathogenic bacteria.
