Description

Malignant melanoma is one of the most feared of human cancers. Its spread is rapid and it can invade almost any organ from its origin in pigmented tissues such as skin. These images are intended to show how this tumor has invaded the lung. The tumor cells are pigmented, giving the cancer its name, "black tumor". In these images, made to demonstrate the invading cancer cells but not necessarily the true pigmentation of the cells.The images are from 400X Jamin-Lebedeff interference optics with the exception of those marked DF which are darkfield at 100X.
