Description
Brass inlaid memorial for Jan Palach (1948 -1969) and Jan Zajíc (1950 - 1969) at the entrance to the Czech Republic National Museum in Prague. Both Palach and Zajic killed themselves by self-immolation as a political protest against the Soviet military occupation of Czechoslovakia. After the Velvet Revolution, the bronze cross was set into the ground in front of the National Museum in Wenceslas Square to honor both Palach and Zajíc.
