Description

In a nuclear chain reaction, a neutron strikes a uranium 235 atom splitting it into atoms of krypton and barium releasing energy along with three neutrons which go on to strike three more U235 atoms. Uncontrolled chain reactions can be used in weapons. Chain reactions can be controlled using neutron absorbing materials such as boron.
