Description
View of the payload bay of Shuttle Discovery during Mission STS-56, showing its various experiments in place. The assorted white objects in the foreground and center are parts of the second Atmospheric Laboratory for Applications and Science, (ATLAS-2). This gathered data on the Earth's middle atmosphere and its interaction with Solar radiation. The gold-colored object in the background is the stowed Spartan-201, a free-flying experiment designed to study the Solar wind. STS-56 flew from 4/8/93 - 4/17/93.
