Artist's Description
St. George Reef Light, located approx. six miles west of Point St. George, constructed for aid to shipping, Crescent City, Del Norte County, California. After eleven years of construction the lighthouse began operation October 20, 1892, standing 134 ft. in height, at a cost of $704,000. The original 'Fresnel' lens weighing approx. 5000 lbs., standing 7' 10" in height, 6' 1" diameter, costing $15,000. The lighthouse was decommissioned May 13, 1975.
