Artist's Description

Statue of Imhotep. Imhotep was chief architect, engineer and physician to the Egyptian Pharaoh Djoser (reigned c.2630 - c. 2611 BC). Despite not being of royal blood, he was accorded divine status after his death. He is credited with founding Egyptian medicine as a science and with designing the first step pyramid in Egypt.
