Description
The Verrazano bridge spans the Narrows, the entrance to New York Harbor. It is the longest suspension bridge in the world, linking Brooklyn with Staten Island. It is named for the Italian explorer who, sailing for the French King, Francis 1, first discovered the site of New York. The structural engineer was O.H. Ammann, who also designed the George Washington Bridge.
