Description
Gustave Trouvé's electric tricycle, the world's first electric vehicle. Trouvé (1839-1902) was a French electrical engineer and inventor. In 1880, he improved the efficiency of a small electric motor developed by Siemens, and, using the recently developed rechargeable battery, fitted it to an English James Starley tricycle. A vintage mechanical device with three large wheels features gears, storage units, and various intricate components. The design suggests an early form of experimentation with wheeled machinery.
