Nikola Tesla (July 10, 1856 - January 7, 1943) was a Serbian-American inventor, mechanical engineer, and electrical engineer. He was an important contributor to the use of commercial electricity, and is best known for developing the alternating current (AC) electrical supply system. Because of his 1894 demonstration of short range wireless communication through radio and as the victor in the "War of Currents" (Tesla vs. Edison), he was widely respected as one of the world's greatest electrical engineers. He was known for his great showmanship, presenting his innovations and demonstrations to the public like a magician. No photographer credited, undated (cropped and cleaned).
