Description
This digitally altered sagittal (lateral side-view) MRI image through the center of the brain shows a rounded red structure with a yellow glow. This red and yellow structure represents a colloid cyst, an abnormality located in the superior anterior part of the third ventricle of the brain. Ventricles are the fluid filled cavities in the brain which contain cerebral spinal fluid (CSF). Colloid cysts are benign brain lesions that, on account of their location, can block the flow of CSF, leading to headaches and even sudden death.
