Bacteria Vibrio cholerae. TEM. A single V.cholerae bacterium, the causing agent of cholera in humans. Gram-negative comma-shaped bacterium. The single flagellum is used for movement. Vibrio cholerae is a waterborn pathogen, transmitted to human through drinking water contaminated by human or animal feces. Cholera infects the intestine, causing vomiting and diarrhoea. The patient may die from severe dehydration. Outbreaks of cholera are associated with poor sanitary conditions and may occur in epidemic proportions. Magnification-20.000x
