Artist's Description

Diffraction on rectangular aperture. A small rectangular aperture (190x110 micron) is placed in a beam produced by a Helium-Neon laser operating at 632.8 nm. The resulting Fraunhofer diffraction pattern is observed at about 23 cm away. The central diffraction lobe is over saturated so that the outer fringes are more prominent. Digitally manipulated.
