Illustration of a molecular model of benzene, an organic compound composed of six carbon atoms arranged in a ring, with one hydrogen atom attached to each carbon. Benzene is classified as a hydrocarbon, and is a colorless and highly flammable liquid naturally found in crude oil. Atoms are colored dark green (carbon) and light green (hydrogen).
