Artist's Description

Color-enhanced Scanning Electron Micrograph (SEM) of the stool of a 4-month old baby, fed only on breast milk. The stool was fixed immediately after excretion, captured on a bacteriological filter, and examined by scanning electron microscopy. The stool had a greenish-yellow colour. It consisted mostly of a wide variety of bacteria. Image width 7.11 micrometers. Magnification 14,065x if the image is printed 10 cm wide.
