Description
Entitled "Diligenza di ritorno dalla luna" print shows a flying machine returning from the moon. The history of aviation has extended over more than two thousand years, from the earliest forms of aviation, kites and attempts at tower jumping, to supersonic, and hypersonic flight by powered, heavier-than-air jets. The first manned ascent (and safe descent) in modern times took place by hot-air balloon in the 18th century. Lithograph by Gaetana Dura, April 1, 1836. This image has been color enhanced.
