Description
Opportunity rover on Mars. Fisheye lens view from the front of the Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity on the Martian surface. Opportunity landed in a small crater in the Meridiani Planum region of Mars on 24 January 2004. It rolled off its lander on 31 January 2004 to begin exploration. Two of the rover's six wheels are at lower right and left. On the horizon is an outcrop of pale coloured rock. Opportunity and an identical rover called Spirit will study Martian rocks and look for water on the planet. This picture was taken by the front hazard- identification camera.
