David "Davy" Crockett (1786-1836) was a celebrated folk hero, frontiersman, soldier and politician. William Frederick "Buffalo Bill" Cody (1846-1917) was a soldier, bison hunter and showman. John Baker Omohundro (1846-1880), also known as Texas Jack, was a frontier scout, actor, and cowboy. Christopher Houston "Kit" Carson (1809-1868) was a frontiersman and Indian fighter. Moses Milner (1829-1876) Chief of Scouts for General George Armstrong Custer, gunfighter, trapper and miner, known as California Joe. Daniel Boone (1734-1820) was pioneer, explorer, and frontiersman whose exploits made him one of the first folk heroes of the United States.
