Description
It was both the Penny Post postal service in 1840 and the industrialization of the printing industry that led to the popularity of sending Christmas cards. At the same time, mail-order catalog companies used improvements in transportation, packaging, and the national postal service to expand their services. Photographed by the Bain News Service, circa 1910-15.
