Grandma Moses (1860 - 1961) was a famous American folk artist who began painting at the age of 78. She was a prolific painter who generated over 1,500 canvasses in three decades. She wrote an autobiography, won numerous awards, was awarded two honorary doctoral degrees and lived to be a centenarian. Photo by Clara Sipprell, 1950 (cropped and cleaned).
