Helen Keller with Mark Twain, c. 1901. Helen Adams Keller (June 27, 1880 - June 1, 1968) was an American author, political activist, and lecturer. She was the first deafblind person to earn a bachelor of arts degree. At age 22, Keller published her autobiography, The Story of My Life (1903), with help from her teacher Anne Sullivan and Sullivan's husband, John Macy. She went on to publish many other books. Samuel Langhorne Clemens (November 30, 1835 - April 21, 1910), better known by his pen name Mark Twain, was an American author and humorist. He wrote The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (1876) and its classic sequel, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (1885), among many other books. He was a great admirer of Helen Keller.
