Description
Plutarch wrote of Caesar's ability to gently, but with authority, calm his pilot and rowers (note water rushing in by the rowers' feet) during a storm. Gaius Julius Caesar (100-44 BC) was a Roman general and statesman. He played a critical role in the gradual transformation of the Roman Republic into the Roman Empire. He was assassinated by his friend Brutus and others on the Ides of March in 44 BC. Plutarch's Lives for Boys and Girls, 1900 (cropped and cleaned).
