Description
Passage tomb at Plouharnel (Morbihan). Morbihan is a department in Brittany, situated in the northwest of France. It is noted for its Carnac stones. These predate and are more extensive than the ancient Stonehenge monument in Wiltshire, England. A passage grave or passage tomb consists one or more burial chambers covered in earth or with stone, and having a narrow access passage made of large stones. These structures usually date from the Neolithic Age, and are found largely in Western Europe. Image taken from Primitive Man by Louis Figuier, 1870 (cropped and cleaned).
