Description
Medical visualization taken from human scanned data showing a proerythroblast, which is one of the stages in the process of erythropoiesis (red blood cell production). Erythropoiesis is directed towards the production of a cell without organelles such as a nucleus, instead it is packed with hemoglobin. An original stem cell differentiates to form a proerythroblast, a primitive, large nucleated cell with no hemoglobin. The proerythroblast still shows the nucleus as a dominant oval shape surrounded by a lightly colored cytoplasm. The increase in hemoglobin proceeds with a gradual loss of all organelles.
