AIDS awareness symbol. This symbolic ribbon is worn to show support for AIDS patients and issues. AIDS (acquired immune deficiency syndrome) is a disease caused by HIV (human immunodeficiency virus). It is incurable and is spread through the exchange of bodily fluids; often by unprotected sexual intercourse or when sharing needles. December 1st is International AIDS Awareness Day.
