Description
"My God, Help Me To Survive This Deadly Love," painted by artist Dmitri Vrubel on the East Side of the Berlin Wall. The piece is based on a photograph of the leader of East Germany, Erich Honecker, kissing Soviet leader Leonid Brezhnev on the occasion of the 30th Anniversary of the German Democratic Republic. Kissing was not an unusual custom, being a sign of solidarity, but the distinctive photograph became an icon of the Cold War.
