Description
Praying mantis from Saudi Arabia camouflaged among plants. This mantis has undeveloped wings and relies on body colors and shape for camouflage, rather than flight to escape predators. Its behavior is to move slowly and carefully and so not be seen, or to remain quite still. This type of imitation of plants is called phytomimesis.
